Morning and Night Skincare Routines for Combination Skin

Morning and Night Skincare Routines for Combination Skin

Everyone’s skin is almost as unique as their fingerprints, but there are four general skin types (besides normal skin): combination, dry, oily, and sensitive. Figuring out and understanding the type of skin you have will help you determine morning and night skincare routines that work for you to suit your skin’s needs and help you reach any skin goals you have. Just like how our bodies change as we age, so does our skin, which means your skin type can change as you age. Your skin type is determined by a few things:

  • The amount of water in your skin
    • This affects comfort and elasticity of your skin
  • The amount of oil in or on your skin
      • This affects the softness and smoothness of your skin
  • The level of sensitivity your skin is.

Those that have combination skin can be dry or normal in some areas and oily in others. Typically, those that have combination skin will have an oily T-zone, which includes your nose, forehead, and chin. Due to different types of skin in some areas, your skin may need different types of care and products. People with this skin type often have larger pores near their nose that produce oils, blackheads, and frequent breakouts in their T-zone due to the excessive oil produced. This is one of the more common skin types for people to have and can be a bit difficult to figure out sometimes, but with the right routine and high-quality products, healthy and balanced skin is possible!

Keep reading to find morning and night skincare routines using KS Esthetics products to help those with combination skin!

Morning Skincare Routine for Combination Skin

  1. Begin with KS Esthetics Purifying Gel Cleanser.
    • This will help remove oil buildup on the skin and relieve congestion that may have occurred while sleeping.
  2. Water Lily and Rose Hydrating Mist
    • This alcohol-free toner will help add some light hydration to the skin, and the witch hazel will help control oil production throughout your day.
  3. Hydrating Serum
    • This serum will also help control oil production in your T-zone as well as balance the water, or hydration, in your skin.
  4. Replenish Moisturizing Cream
    • This moisturizer will help balance the different types of skin you have and plumps the skin to reduce signs of aging like fine lines.
  5. Mineral Sunscreen
    • It’s important to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays that the sun produces to reduce and prevent the damages that can be caused. This is important no matter your skin type, and this sunscreen is perfect to provide professional-grade protection. The tinted zinc oxide also provides a natural glow to the skin.

Night Skincare Routine for Combination Skin

The nighttime routine for combination skin is similar to the morning routine, but there are a few more products to prepare your skin for overnight care and healing.

  1. Begin with the Dual Cleansing Oil
    • This will begin removing makeup, dirt, and sweat that collected on the surface of the skin throughout the day.
  2. Purifying Gel Cleanser
    • If your skin is extra oily at the end of the day, you can use this product to cleanse your skin twice to properly remove excessive oil and dirt from below the skin’s surface.
  3. Lemon Facial Scrub
    • This product helps remove oil that might be trapped under dead skin cells. Without removing this hidden oil, your skin can become clogged which leads to breakouts and irritation.
    • Only use this product about 2-3 times a week so that you don’t over-exfoliate your skin.
  4. Water Lily and Rose Hydrating Mist
    • This will balance and tone your skin, helping reduce the size of your pores and any irritation your skin may have.
  5. Hydrating Serum
    • The Hydrating Serum will help hydrate the dry areas of your skin and reduce oil production while you sleep.
  6. Replenish Moisturizing Cream and/or Moisturizing Retinol Night Cream
    • Both of these products are great for adding hydration to the skin to keep it from being uncomfortable or tight. The retinol in the night cream is great to reduce breakouts and increase collagen production.
  7. Extra Tip: If you’re experiencing breakouts, try using the Moisturizing Retinol Night Cream as a mask two times a week, leaving it on for 15 minutes and then massaging it into the skin. Doing this before bed will help heal your skin while you sleep.
